LUNCH

Notts 534 & 257-4

Durham 447

Nottinghamshire defied an indifferent weather forecast to reach lunch on 257 for four on the final day of their Specsavers County Championship match with Durham at Trent Bridge.

In gusty conditions, with the floodlights on, the home side have stretched their advantage to 344, with a minimum of 67 overs remaining in the match.

Brendan Taylor is unbeaten on 82 at the interval, scoring his runs from just 68 balls, with eight fours and four sixes. The former Zimbabwe captain, who scored a century in the first innings, demonstrated a deft touch and some classy hitting as he manoeuvred the ball all around the outfield.

Graham Onions dismissed Greg Smith in the first over of the day, trapping the batsman lbw with one that kept low. The bowler then added to Durham’s injury problems by limping off midway through his fourth over.

Jake Libby steered Chris Rushworth to gully for 42 and Michael Lumb hit a return catch to Scott Borthwick, having made 52 from 71 balls.
