The Worksop and District Angling Association cadet squad fished the recent Angling Trust Junior Nationals, and came away with some gold.

No team medals were forthcoming this year, but Jay Gill’s individual efforts earned him top spot, picking up the 2015 Cadet Winners Trophy.

Well done Jay, a fantastic performance and a well deserved award.

Ten-year-old Molly McKay Smith also did tremendously well, putting Worksop on the map after taking seventh place over-all – what a great achievement for such a young angler.

Well done to all who took part.

You can’t win them all but what a sterling effort by each angler.

The WDAA are holding a series of fortnightly open matches at Sandhill Lake, Worksop, draw 9am at the lake, cost £10.00 all in.

GAME SCENE

Toft Newton Reservoir: 108 Rods caught 236 trout for a rod average of 2.19.

The lower average was probably due the trout being pre-occupied feasting on newly hatched fry in the margins.

Not surprisingly, appropriate fish-type patterns did well this week.

Evening sport is on the up following Sedge hatches so the usual dry patterns are all worth a try.

Increase your chances by covering the margins before casting to open water.

With the promise of a heat-wave, sport should be better in the evenings or from boat in the deeper water.

Boats and coaching sessions to be booked in advance. Contact Jason or Andy on 01673 878453.
