Bassetlaw Triathlon Club’s Matt Lloyd continued his fine season with 20th place in his age group at the Dam Buster Olympic distance triathlon at Rutland Water.
Lloyd wasn’t 100 per cent fit due to illness, but finished in 2:25:00, 155th out of the 800 competitors.
This event was a GB age group qualifier for the Worlds in Canada and Europeans in Geneva, but having already qualified the pressure was off the local triathlete.
The club are preparing for the second Bassetlaw Sprint Triathlon.
Taking place on Sunday 3rd August, the sprint event is a great opportunity for experienced or beginner triathletes to give racing a go.
Setting off in waves, starting with a 400m pool swim at Worksop Leisure Centre, triathletes then head out on the the bike for 20km, before a loop 5km run finishing back at the leisure centre.
The event is open to individuals and teams and all the details are available on the club’s website at www.bassetlawtriclub.co.uk
Last year’s successful inaugural event, and the club’s professional set up, helped them to lift the ‘Club of the Year’ gong at the 2013 Bassetlaw Sports Awards.
