Harworth’s race ace Dean Hipwell showed his potential by piloting his CDH Racing Yamaha to a superb top 10 finish in round three of the main British Supersport Championship last weekend at Croft.
The weekend started well with Hipwell on the third row of the grid in 10th place for Saturday afternoon’s qualifying race.
A poor start saw him drop back to 14th at the end of the first lap, but he eventually posted the 14th quickest lap time to start from that position in Saturday’s main race.
Hipwell got away to a better start and by lap nine hade claim 11th place.
Despite further advances up the field, he could not quite close the gap on the rider in front as he brought the CDH Yamaha past the chequered flag in a satisfying eighth place.
A team spokesman told the Trader Guardian: “The CDH Racing team were more than pleased with his performance and Dean was sure that if the race had gone on for another three laps he would have been in the top five.”
