After 27 years of regularly being one of the best teams in the Bassetlaw Mini-Cricket Championship without winning the Champion of Champions Trophy, St John’s have made history this year.

Their A squad defeated Bracken Lane in the semi-final, while the B squad beat Gamston with a sensational finish thanks to two fantastic balls from Benjamin Hogan in the final over, setting up an all-St John’s final.

Two players from previous winning teams, Jake Ball and Brett Hutton, are this week representing Notts in their County Championship match against Middlesex.

Ball was a member of Cuckney’s team that took the title in 2001 and 2002 with victories over Blyth and Holy Family while Hutton was a member of the Carlton Ramsden team that defeated Norbridge in the 2003 final.
