Smith takes the honours again

RETFORD Wheeler Dominic Smith took the honours in the midweek TLI road race at Stainton.

Paul Austin and Ian Freshney both rode well, finishing at the head of the chasing pack.

Misson teenager Smith now has a good lead in the season long points race.

Elsewhere, Tony Keyworth rode in the Lincoln Wheelers Charity 10.2-mile time trial on the Tuxford course, returning a highly creditable 23 minutes 22 seconds.

At the Forest Town Track League, Matthew Waters made a clean sweep in the youths' events, winning three events.

The Tresswell teen also rode in the DHL sprint school at Newport Velodrome last Friday and in the 500meter standing start time trial recorded a personal best of 38.26 seconds.

Only a dozen riders set out on the Retford Wheelers annual club run to Cleethorpes last Sunday, a round trip of 115 miles.

The club ride this Sunday is to Teversall, about 60 miles and riders can expect to be back in Retford for 3pm.

Meet in the market square at 9am.
