Reg Dab: What more do you want?

After a topsy turvy few weeks, the title race is back in our hands.

And yet this doesn't seem to be enough for some people.

During the admittedly disappointing efforts against Quorn, which ultimately resulted in a goalless draw, there were audible grumbles from the sideline, culminating in certain sections of the crowd booing the team as they left the pitch.

It left me astonished as to what they actually expected of our players.

And, having read the managers notes in the programme on Saturday, it seems I am not alone.

People would seem to think that our procession to the title last season, and our subsequent non-promotion, coupled with Mr Dixon's arrival, means that this season we only have to turn up to claim what is rightfully ours.

Absolute nonsense, and the sooner these people appreciate what is on offer, the richer we will all be.

Booing your own team does no-one any good, and serves only to demoralise those it is supposedly intended to inspire.

The only winners are our rivals.

If you were one of those so quick to criticise the team, I would ask you what wonderful insight you have that you think the players themselves, and the management, do not?

Is the sound of your boos designed to educate the team that you deem the performance unacceptable?

If so, you must surely think that they themselves are not aware of this.

No player takes to the pitch looking to put in a bad performance, but unfortunately they are playing at this level because sometimes it just doesn't happen for them.

These are not multi-millionaires from whom we are entitled to expect game-winning performances.

These are office workers, painters, teachers, just like you and me.

And the one sure-fire way to help get the best out of them is to support and encourage them.
