A local teen is hoping to steer himself into rallycross glory.
Jake Taylor is preparing to compete in the 2014 British Rallycross Championship.
The 16-year-old Elizabethan Academy student has always had a passion for motorsport.
He completed four years of training at Silverstone Rally School Youth Academy and passed his rally driving test at the age of 14.
Taylor went on to claim second in the 2013 Silverstone Junior Rally Championship, missing out on first by a point.
Last summer he turned to rallycross, which involves intense heats on a circuit that is part tarmac and part gravel.
The Retford youngster made his debut in round seven of the 2013 British Rallycross Championships and recorded a podium finish in his first race.
He now aims to compete in his first full season for Peter Gwynne Motorsport in the Junior Suzuki Swift rallycross car, starting with a test day at Lydden Hill.
He added “’I’m lucky to have been helped by my family and I’m now searching for local businesses to support or sponsor me.”
