Badgers sign Lindley

RETFORD United have snapped up former Hucknall Town goalkeeper James Lindley.

Lindley, right, who was one of Town’s better performers in a dire Blue Square North campaign, quit Watnall Road at the beginning of last month.

The stopper, 27, was offered a new deal by Hucknall boss Bryan Chambers but rejected it.

Now he has joined Retford, who were promoted to the Unibond Premier after winning the Division One South title.

A graduate of Notts County’s youth academy, Lindley made four first-team appearances for The Magpies before he drifted into the non-league game.

His first spell at Hucknall came during the 2003/04 season when he made four appearances while on loan from Tamworth.

He then moved to Stafford Rangers before returning to Watnall Road in July 2004.

He spent the next two years with Town before joining Harrogate Town. He has also had spells with Gresley Rovers, Ilkeston Town and Alfreton Town.
