CARR Hill, treble winners last season, showed they are intent on keeping their titles, when they started the new campaign with an 8-2 win over a brave Kingston Park side.
Five down at half-time, Kingston continued to battle bravely against all the odds and managed to reduce the deficit with goals from Joseph Hodgkiss and Oliver Billau.
But Oliver Ashwell (3), Alex Wonham (2), Joseph Gregory (2) and Tyler Smith had put Carr Hill in an unassailable position and the champion of champions school were victorious in the opener.
Sir Edmund Hillary, a school with a number of players from last year still available, showed that they will be among the challengers for honours this season when they defeated Ryton Park in their Parry Cup first round tie.
Cameron Harper hit four and Travis Matthews and Charlie Smith made it six as Hillary overcame the Ryton Park boys 6-2, with Marshall Scott registering two consolation goals.
Prospect Hill played a league match for their opening game of the season and picked up their first three points with goals from Jak Turner, Mason Rubie and Kiron Houghton in a 4-1 success against Redlands.
