Forrest Rangers Under 11s win on aggregate in Trent Trophy

After several weeks of postponements, the Under 11s Trent Trophy semi-final second leg between Forrest Rangers and Blyth was played.

The Kerry Gainsborough Youth Football League teams put on a nail biter, finishing 2-2 in the second leg.

But Forrest’s 1-0 win in the first leg at Upton has put them through to the final.

M. Taylor and A. Bull scored for Forrest, who go on to take on Misterton in the final.

In league action, Misterton are showing vast improvement and look good to take runners-up spot, after taking points off second placed Midtown last weekend.

Misterton won 3-2 at Midtown.

Marshalls Sports won their first league game of the season, thanks to a 1-0 win over Marshalls FC.

In the Under 9s league, Blyth’s food form continued with a 2-0 win over Misterton.

Gainsborough Trinity visited the luckless Retford Stripes, and Retford were unlucky to lose 4-2.

Fretwell, Phillips, Carte and Ellis all scored for Trinity, while R, Makings and T. Mitchell were on target for Retford.

Retford Whites made the journey to Marshalls Colts and came home with a 5-0 win, thanks to goals from L. Smith (2), S. Bull, C. Spooner and C. Johnson.

Forrest Rangers are yet to concede a goal in this second part of the season, and last weekend defeated Babworth 3-0 with goals from Rojas, Redwood and Daubney.

In the Under 8s league, Ordsall Rangers scored five goals at home against Babworth B but still finished on the losing end of an 8-5 scoreline.

Rangers goals came from L. Reah’s hat-trick and two from S. Brown.

Babworth’s C. Spowart bagged three, with H. Wood and R. Lindsay helping themselves to braces and S. James scoring.

Misterton and Walesby shared seven goals, Walesby winning 4-3 away from home.

This was Misterton’s first defeat in season two.

Will Marshall (2), H. Lobley and A. Masciopinto scored for Walesby.

Under 9s: Blyth 2 Misterton 0, Retford Stripes 2 Gainsborough Trinity 4, Marshalls Colts 0 Retford Whites 5, Babworth 0 Forrest Rangers 3.

Under 8s: Ordsall Rangers 5 Babworth 8, Misterton 3 Walesby 4.

Having not played for nearly a month, Gainsborough Trinity Under 15s took on Wrawby Rovers Under 16s in the Dave Darby Cup and almost pulled off an upset.

It was the visitors however who progressed with a 4-3 win.

Rovers took the lead on 10 minutes when a cross from the right was turned in from six yards.

Trinity were back on level terms when Keatan Gale scored from Adam Bush’s corner.

Wrawby once again went in front, and Trinity came close as Tom Williams had a shot blocked and hit the post.

Wrawby extended their lead in the second half, before Williams made it 3-2, squeezing the ball past the keeper.

Rovers scored from a rebound after a fine save from Josh Brockett.

Daniel Goble’s smart finish set up an exciting last few minutes as Trinity put Wrawby under tremendous pressure but didn’t find a goal.
