Notts Diagonals recorded their first win in the Notts County Minor Cup on Sunday, with a hard fought 3-1 win over East Bridgeford FC.

A brace from Callum Rush and one from Ben Gains ensured Diagonals made it into the hat for the last eight.

In the latter stages Diagonals could have added to the tally with what would have been the best goal of the game, when Connor Lambie passed wide to Matt Tunnard who then found Gains in front of goal but he unselfishly slid it to Steve Harrison to tap home, but the ball bumbled just wide.

The club would like to give a big thank you to EDF Energy for their support by sponsoring the New Kit and A2B taxis for much needed equipment.

Both companies have ensured the club’s future for this season.

Carr Hill, Division One winners for the last three years seem to have adapted very well to the nine-a-side format as they found goals easy to come by with a 10-2 defeat of Redlands.

Harvey Rogers (4), Billy Stafford (2), Harvey Batty (2), Carter Poole and Tyler Smith were all on target for Carr Hill while referee, Peter Kenworthy, reported that Redlands battled bravely but could not convert numerous chances.

Prospect Hill and St. John’s took a point each in a one-all draw that entertained a sizeable crowd.

Jaden Thackery scored for St. John’s while Kian Smith equalised for Prospect.

This week schools will be focusing their interest on the first round of the Parry Cup:

Carr Hill v St. Anne’s; Ryton Park v Gateford Park; St. John’s v Carlton Ramsden; St. Augustine’s v Priory; Holy Family v Redlands.
