Busy week for the Badgers

RETFORD United have a busy weekend, with three events in three days.

Tonight (16th) Badgers are holding a ‘Meet the Management’ evening at Cannon Park at 7.30pm.

New manager Brett Marshall and his staff will be on hand to answer questions from supporters and set out their vision for the future of Retford United Football Club, who will ply their trade in the Northern Counties League next season.

A club spokesman said: “We hope to have a good turnout for the event, with prospective sponsors welcome to visit the ground and see how they can get involved in the club during this exiting period.”

Tomorrow evening (17th) the club is to host a race night for the intermediate section (Under 18s and Under 19s).

The event will start at 8pm, admission is free, and all money will go towards the running of the sides.

Finally, Saturday will see club officials travel to Scarborough for the AGM of the Northern Counties East League, where it is expected that their inclusion in the Premier Division will be confirmed.

At the same time, back at Cannon Park, Marshall and his assistant Graham Walker will be rolling up their sleeves to bring the shine back to the ground as they embark on a general tidy up of the site, as well as painting the changing rooms.

The spokesman added: “Help is welcome from supporters, and the gates awill open from 10am, so if anyone is available, bring a paintbrush and overalls.”

“Donations of any materials will also be greatly received.”

The Badgers players will return for their first pre-season training session the following weekend (25th) as Marshall, Walker and the coaches cast their eye over the prospective side for next season.
