THE district and county authorities are joining forces to find ‘sport makers’.
Bassetlaw Council’s sports development team are working in tandem with Notts County Council’s equivalent department to deliver a Sport Makers workshop – aimed at helping people to get involved in sport.
People who want to help sport happen, whether it be planning race routes, finding venues or arranging events, are encouraged to attend. Anyone who signs up and attends will receive a free t-shirt and bag from official sponsor Adidas, and will become part of the official London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic legacy.
Once Sport Makers have attended the workshop, they are then tasked with organising 10 hours of sport.
They can get their friends and family to play a game of badminton, or organise a brand new sporting event, simply to encourage others to get physically active.
Businesses can also get involved, with a one hour course for staff.
