TWENTY-FOUR teams have entered the 21st Bassetlaw Mini-Cricket Tournament in which the teams play initially in groups in order to proceed to the quarter-final knockout stages.
First off the mark were the holders North Leverton, who clinched their quarter-final place with victories over Gamston and North Wheatley.

Using a round-robin format, North Wheatley set off with a clear-cut win over Gamston, a result that was matc
hed by Leverton whose 160-119 success over the same opponents meant that their final game with Wheatley would decide who progressed to the next round.

Wheatley batted first and reached a total of 130 in spite of being well contained by the bowling of Owen Gamble and Daniel Smalley.

Leverton's reply with the bat saw their first two pairs make useful contributions but with the game still in the balance Toby Sims hit 22 off the last four balls of the match to give Leverton a 160-130 victory.

The full group line-up is:

Group One: Serlby Park A, Carr Hill A, Ordsall.

Group Two: St John's A, St Augustine's, Sir Edmund Hillary.

Group Three: Redlands A, St Anne's, Ramsden.

Group Four: Sir Edmund Hillary B, Serlby Park B, St John's B.

Group Five: Redlands B, Ryton Park, Clarborough

Group Six: East Markham, Harworth, Haggonfields.

Group Seven: North Wheatley, Gamston, North Leverton.

Group Eight: Mattersey, Gringley, Everton.
