Mixed bag of results for local cricket sides

IT was a mixed weekend for the region's cricket sides in the Bassetlaw Cricket League.
In the Championship Retford lost out to Edwinstowe despite a fine 97 from Chandra Kumara.

Bridon however beat Notts and Arnold Amateur by 35 runs to go seventh in the top division.

Both Bridon and Retford second sides drew while Everton had a n
ine-wicket win over Worksop II in Division Two.

North Wheatley with Leverton defeated Farnsfield by eight wickets.

CHAMPIONSHIP

At Forest Corner: EDWINSTOWE (20) 223 all out (Wade Townsend 128, James Peacock 41, Darren Spooner 5 for 47) beat RETFORD (7) 184 all out (Chandra Kumara 97, Richard Gombos 6 for 34) by 39 runs.

At Goosedale Lane: BRIDON (20) 286 for 3 (Aaron Haycock 104 not out, Tim Muir 113 not out) beat NOTTS & ARNOLD AMATEUR (5) 251 all out (Ian Flood 83, Dilhan Cooray 75, Simon Davison 4 for 61, Matt Makings 3 for 60, Tim Muir 3 for 81) by 35 runs.

DIVISION TWO

At Ordsall: BRIDON II (17) 221 for 8 (Mark Brewer 67, Stuart Goodall 46, S. Eaton 4 for 11) drew with TEVERSAL (9) 211 for 7 (John France 105, Dave Shaw 30, James Crookes 3 for 64)

At Cricket Field Lane: HARTHILL (16) 245 for 8, drew with RETFORD II (5) 101 for 5.

At The Metcalf Ground: WORKSOP II (0) 101 all out, lost to EVERTON (20) 104 for 1 by nine wickets.

At Station Lane: FARNSFIELD II (3) 172 for 9 (Graham Bramley 48 not out, Richard Robinson 4 for 14, Jamie Bovill 3 for 41) lost to NORTH WHEATLEY WITH LEVERTON (19) 174 for 2 (Steve Hallows 71 not out) by eight wickets.

DIVISION FIVE

At South Wheatley: NORTH WHEATLEY WITH LEVERTON II (12) 210 for 6 dec. (Michael Tingle 67, Will Saville 65, Andy Spray 3 for 29) v MANSFIELD & PLEASLEY II (9) 128 for 5 (Andy Unwin 61) Rain affected draw.

DIVISION SIX

At Jim Sims Memorial Ground: SOUTH NORMANTON (20) 157 for 8 (Howard Ashton 67, C. Rajan 3 for 17) beat EVERTON II (4) 124 all out (J. Dobson 52, Jordan Halford 6 for 26) by 33 runs.
