RETFORD United moved a point closer to promotion with a hard-earned point at in-form Sheffield FC, but the game ended amid worrying scenes as Neil Harvey was rushed to hospital.
It was feared the Barbados international and Badgers top scorer had broken his neck following a challenge but it later emerged to be not as serious and he could be back in action quicker than anticipated.

United almost took the lead on 10 minutes as Mick Goddard's cross fell to Peter Davey of Sheffield in front of his own goal and the defender crashed the ball against his own post as he tried to clear.

Jamie Smith hit the side netting as he broke through the Retford defence and hit the ball towards goal.

United took the lead on 13 minutes, defender Dan White scoring his first goal for the club. He smashed home a superb left-foot volley from Ryan Ford's cross that gave Sheffield 'keeper Danny Haystead no chance.

Sheffield tried to pull themselves back level, and Ryan Hindley was in the right place to clear an effort off the line.

Harvey poked Ben Chambers's header goalwards, but the ball was cleared off the line.

In the second half, Sheffield came out with more purpose and almost made an instant impact when Gary Townsend headed over.

Sheffield equalised with 10 minutes remaining, Smith powering a header past a diving Turner.

Sheffield were a stronger side for much of the second half, and former Badger Vill Powell almost nicked it for them, but Ludlam was on the line to clear.

The game ended with Harvey in a neck brace and taken off in an ambulance. Several officials from both clubs, along with the BBC TV Street Doctors tended to the injured striker as the ambulance arrived, before Harvey was taken to hospital.

Harvey was discharged with the injury not being as serious as first thought.

United host Gresley Rovers at Cannon Park on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).
