REPRESENTING Notts as their Small Schools county champions, North Leverton made a valiant effort in the Midlands Counties Finals where the additional prize was a place in the National Finals at Wembley in April.
In the group matches a goal in added time by the Worcester champions equalised an earlier goal from Owen Gamble.
The Humberside champions were defeated by a single goal, again from Gamble, but in a low-scoring tournament one goal for Warwickshire
was enough to force Leverton into a play-off.
This time Worcestershire were easily brushed aside with yet another goal from Gamble, direct from a corner, and one from Toby Sims.
In the semi-final against Northants, extra time and penalties loomed when Leverton conceded 30 seconds from time. Consolation for Leverton came from the fact that seven of their squad of eight are all available next year.
