THIS is a difficult time of the year for the Retford Wheelers with the cold temperatures and icy roads.

A number of riders did manage to venture out on the main roads last weekend and get a few miles in, but others like regular track riders Paul Austin and Graeme Waters were fortunate to get a weekend's training at the Welsh National Velodrome in Newport.

Both riders are hoping to get their season off to a good start in preparation for the National Masters competition in July and the Worlds Masters Championships to be held in Portugal in October.

There will be a club run on Sunday, weather permitting.

Meet in the market square at 9am or 9.30am at the Beacon, Gringley on the Hill, for a ride out to Sandtoft.

There will be a stop for refreshment at the aerodrome cafe. New riders welcome.
