IT was another century ride for those Retford Wheelers brave enough to face the elements last Sunday.
In pouring rain 15 riders set out on the club's annual ride to Cleethorpes, a ride that was to be eventful in more ways than one with the group being delayed with three punctures and a broken crank, resulting in one of the riders being pushed by his
team mates for the last 10 miles to their destination.

Having had so many delays the riders were an hour down on their schedule which meant there was only enough time to take in refreshment and make a bike change before their return journey home.

Following the same route as the outward journey through the Lincolnshire Wolds' villages of Beelsby, Cuxwold and Rothwell, the group made up the lost time and continued with the good progress through Nettleton, Brandy Wharf and onto Gainsborough and Retford.

On the race scene Tony Siveter recorded a seasonal best time of 23 minutes 28 seconds

In the Hull City Road Club 10-mile time trial at South Cave, and Dave Houlton finished with a top-10 place in the midweek circuit race around Barnby Moor and Torworth with Alan Hazard and Sam Kirby finishing in the bunch.

Sam was also in action at the Scunthorpe evening track league, finishing with a good fifth place in the "unknown distance"

Next Sunday's club run is to Southwell.

Riders should meet in the market square at the earlier time of 8.45am as there is to be a photo shoot before the departure.
