North Anston was overrun with pirates on Tuesday as shipshape youngsters took part in a treasure hunt.
The tropical island of Greenlands Park was the setting as the swashbucklers followed the map and found clues to uncover the pirate treasure.
Donna Morton of Rotherham Council’s Green Spaces team said: “It’s a little known fact that in the 18th century, pirates would bring their treasure ashore then transport it to Greenlands Park and scurry it away from prying eyes.”
Everyone had a fantastic time getting into fancy dress, searching for the treasure and being out in the fresh air.
The event is just one of a whole range of activities organised by Rotherham Council to keep kids occupied during the summer holidays.
