Toddlers at Worksop’s Treetops Nursery found themselves in the company of familiar faces last week, as their grandparents joined them for the day.

The special nursery session came as part of Senior Citizens Day on 21st August.

The holiday is more commonly celebrated in the USA, having been instigated by Ronald Reagan in 1988.

Nevertheless, the youngsters enjoyed celebrating with their older relations.

Nursery manager Jo Bullivant said Treetops said the session was part of a desire to make nursery feel like home for the children.

“We work closely with parents, and a big part of that is getting grandparents involved.”

“They don’t often get to see their grandchildren at nursery, so we wanted to give them that opportunity.”

“We ran the everyday activities, so children could take their grandparents to their favourite toys and play with them there.”
