Workshops in the Bassetlaw area have been held in a national campaign to help youngsters get into work.
For the third year in a row Premier Foods’ manufacturing in Claylands Avenue, Worksop, opened its doors to unemployed youngsters and hosted a free pre-employment skills training workshop.
The workshop was part of the company’s support for Feeding Britain’s Future, a nationwide campaign aimed at tackling youth unemployment.
The youngsters from in and around Worksop had the opportunity to gain skills need to get into work.
The pupils were taken through CV and interview sessions, which helped them develop their employability skills and improve their chances of getting a job.
Bassetlaw MP John Mann said: “It’s great that local businesses are taking the time and providing the resource to invest in young people in the area.”
“Giving young people a sense of what’s out there, and the skills needed to get them into work, is clearly important.”
“The Feeding Britain’s Future campaign is an extremely worthwhile initiative that I encourage other industries to follow.”
Since 2002 more than 200 food and grocery companies have offered 25,000 training opportunities across the UK as part of the campaign
The majority of participants reported that they felt more confident about applying for a job and 89% more likely to consider a job in the food and grocery industry since they took part in the campaign’s workshops.
