A memorial plate to murdered PC Christopher McDonald has been replaced and now stands resplendent in Bridge Street, the heart of Worksop. PC McDonald was just 19 when he was killed on duty in May 1978.
He was beaten and pushed in the River Ryton by robbers who he was chasing.
Bassetlaw Council and Notts Police are arranging a special ceremony to rededicate the plaque.
It is hoped PC McDonald’s mother and senior police officers will attend.
The original plaque was taken up while improvements were made in the Bridge Street area.
It has been polished, mounted and presented to Mrs McDonald.
