Worksop sewing experts The Knitters Shop, on Potter Street, are taking part in Sew Saturday tomorrow (October 17).
Sewing shops across the UK will be celebrating Sew Saturday, the climax of months of activity from the Sew Saturday campaign launched by Sew magazine,
And local business The Knitters Shop is just one of the many stores getting involved.
The event is supported by the industry including Sew Saturday ambassadors The Great British Sewing Bee’s May Martin and series one Sewing Bee contestant and stitching personality Stuart Hillard, in a bid to boost the profile of bricks and mortar sewing stores and to remind their customers of the fantastic,
irreplaceable, personal service they provide.
“We’re very happy to be taking part,” said Nancy O’Donovan, the owner of The Knitters Shop. “Stitching and dressmaking is really growing in popularity, and customers rely on their local fabric shop for more than just great fabric and supplies. It’s a place to get advice and feel part of the community too. We are looking forward to welcoming customers old and new through the door, and hope our local stitchers will get involved.”
On Saturday from 10am-2pm, The Knitters Shop will be offering 10 per cent off all fabric and sewing items, concluding the free Prize Draw, offering customers a free drink with biscuits, holding demonstrations and giving sewing, knitting and crochet advice.
Prize Draw tickets have been given to every customer making a purchase from Monday, 12 October through to the end of Sew Saturday. The winning ticket will be drawn the following Monday and the winner notified by phone.
Based on the success of sister title Let’s Knit’s popular Yarn Shop Day which is now in its second year.
Sew editor Lorraine Luximon says: “At Sew we know the value of a good bricks and mortar fabric store. As well as providing the unequalled pleasure of seeing the fabrics in the flesh, they offer the benefit of face-to-face advice. Our Sew Saturday campaign is aimed at alerting consumers to the great benefits of
supporting these stores, I can’t wait to hear what exciting events shops have planned.”
