Hancock's Half Hour - The Lost Episodes
Hancock's Half Hour - The Lost Episodes

LINCOLNSHIRE’s Hambledon Productions presents two original ‘lost’ episodes from hit BBC sitcom Hancock’s Half Hour next month.

The show is coming to the Acorn Theatre in Worksop on Friday 14th September.

And The Guardian has got a pair of tickets for the performance to give away to one lucky reader.

Written by the perennial Ray Galton and Alan Simpson, this show will mark the very first time these scripts have been performed for over 50 years.

They were originally broadcast featuring the lad himself, Tony Hancock, alongside Bill Kerr, Sidney James, Andrée Melly and Kenneth Williams.

Featuring the radio episode A Winter’s Tale and the television episode The Italian Maid, take a humorous trip down memory lane and indulge in some vintage British comedy unheard for nearly 60 years.

“The two ‘lost’ episodes are now missing from the BBC archives, only surviving in script form,” said co-founder John Hewer.

“I met up with the writers Ray Galton and Alan Simpson earlier this year and they have entrusted me and my company to adapt and perform these two episodes, which have not been seen or heard since their original recordings in the mid 1950s.”

Hambledon Productions was established in 2007, although brother and sister team Rachael and John Hewer have been producing theatre for over fifteen years.

The company is based in Lincolnshire and produces new writing while striving to take theatre into communities that may not have the opportunity to experience new theatre productions.

The show at Worksop’s Acorn Theatre starts at 7.30pm. Tickets priced £8.50 full / £7 concessions are available at the box office on 01909 501817.

The show is also on at the Phoenix Theatre, Bawtry on Thursday 20th September starting at 7.30pm. Tickets priced £8.50 full / £7.50 concessions from the Box Office on 01472 388019.
