FORMER Bassetlaw Council chairman Coun David Challinor and his wife Denise had a right Royal Time when they attended the Queen’s Garden Party in London this week.

The couple were invited to represent Bassetlaw at the special event held at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday.

Coun Challinor said it was an honour to be invited and that they thoroughly enjoyed the day.

“Denise got to shake Kate Middleton’s hand and told her how nice she and some of the other ladies looked,” he said.

“The whole afternoon was great with people from all over the world there, some in their national dress.”

He added: “I can honestly say there’s only this county that can do things like this to show a mark of respect for the Queen.”
