Plans to build 170 new homes in Saxilby have been shelved by the builders after they decided not to submit a planning application.
Builders Taylor Wimpey had plans to develop land off Daubeney Avenue in Saxilby.
A spokesman for Taylor Wimpey said: “After discussions with West Lindsey District Council, and taking into account the public response to our consultation event, we have decided against submitting a planning application to build homes on the land off Daubeney Avenue, in Saxilby.
“As the legal interest for this development expired in June, we have also decided against submitting any future applications to build homes on this land.”
The Saxilby Action Group, who were opposed to the development, wrote on its website: “The final outcome is that Taylor Wimpey have decided not to go ahead with the development. Whether the land owner will decide to try a different developer is yet to be seen, but for now there will not be an additional 170 houses built on the field at the end of Daubeney Avenue.”
This news comes soon after a public inquiry was arranged for planning application number 131174, which was made to West Lindsey District Council, for 230 homes .
An appeal has been made by Tony Lawton of Lindum Homes, which concerns land at Church Lane, Saxilby.
The application was for outline planning for residential development, to include associated estate roads and open space.
An Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State will attend the Epic Centre, Lincolnshire Showground, Grange-de-Lings, Lincoln, for the appeal starting on Tuesday, August 11, at 10am.
Members of the public are invited to attend the inquiry and, at the Inspector’s discretion, express their views.
