BOOKWORM Ryan Blanchard was pleased as punch to win a selection of books from Gainsborough Library in Cobden Street.

The nine-year-old will have a busy summer holidays flicking through the pages of these literary delights.

He was one of just four children to take home a prize in this year’s 2012 Lincolnshire Young People’s Book Award competition, run by the library service.

Each book was voted ‘best read of the year’ by young people in Lincolnshire.

The winner of the nine to 11-year-olds category was Loving Spirit by Linda Chapman. And Diary of a Wimpy Kid won the 12-14s category.

The award is all about raising the profile of libraries, encouraging wider reading and having fun.
