SUCCESS is being celebrated at Gainsborough’s Parish Church Primary School after they received a great Ofsted report.

The school received an overall rating of ‘good’ after the inspection body visited them in December.

This is a vast improvement upon their last inspection in 2009 when the school were found to be ‘satisfactory’.

The report, published earlier this month read that: ‘Teachers and their assistants know all of the pupils exceptionally well and ensure that their needs are met well.’

It goes on to say: ‘As a result, all groups of pupils, including those with special educational needs or disabilities and those who join part-way through their primary school education, make good progress. The school runs smoothly on a day-to-day basis with a very positive atmosphere for learning. These characteristics, coupled with good teaching, enable the pupils to achieve well.’

Headteacher Tracy Fulthorpe said that she was happy with the result.

“Everyone at Parish Church is very pleased,” she said.

“It’s been a real effort from all members of staff and pupils - they’ve all worked very hard and it shows that the care, guidance and support of our staff was even rated as ‘outstanding’.”

She continued: “The report reflects how all pupils and parents have a great attitude towards work with all groups of children making very good progress.”

The report also read that the school could further improve on its excellent results by providing pupils with more opportunities to develop their mathematical skills.

“We are always striving to make sure that all of our teaching is getting better all the time and now we’re working to teach maths across the curriculum,” said Mrs Fulthorpe. “We have already made progress to improve upon that.”

Mrs Fulthorpe added: “I’m just so proud of all of the staff and the children because the amount of effort that they put in is very, very high. I hope this result confirms what the parents said in the report - that they very happy with the quality of teaching here at Parish Church Primary School and we are thrilled that the inspection reflected that.”
