NHS volunteer assaulted in Retford

A VOLUNTARY NHS first responder has been assaulted in Retford while trying to help a man.

The 35-year-old local woman was on her way to a colleague’s address at around 3pm on Sunday 3rd April when she was flagged down by a group of youths in Randall Way.

They told her there was a man lying on some wasteland near the Waste Recycling Centre in Hallcroft Road who wasn’t moving.

The woman found the man and tried to rouse him by tapping him on the shoulder and talking to him, at which point he sat up and punched her in the face before running off.

The woman suffered a split lip and a chipped tooth as a result of the assault.

Officers investigating the attack want to speak to the group of youths who flagged the woman down in case they know the man or have any further information that could help identify him.
