A CAKE cutting ceremony marked the official opening of a new tea room at Tuxford windmill with special guest MP Patrick Mercer.
The cake was made with flour milled at the windmill and it is now on the menu along with cream teas, soup and filled rolls.
The extended tea room will help cater for group visits from organisations like the Women's Institute, gardening clubs and historical societies.
Windmill owner Paul Wyman was thrilled to see everyone involved come together for the event.
"We decided to cut a cake rather than a ribbon. People love our chocolate cake with wholemeal flour and they come back time and time again," he said.
"We try to keep everything as local as possible with local produce in our cafe."
The next event to be held at the windmill is the Harvest Food Fair on 13th September from 10am-5pm as part of the national Heritage Weekend.
