A sculptor of art for garden and landscape settings has moved into a studio at The Harley Gallery.

Rachel Carter designs and creates her sculptural pieces by using woven materials such as copper, willow and bronze and she weaves it all by hand.

Rachel’s studio at the Harley Gallery is the first time she has had her own space.

She said: “I am have gone from sharing a studio with six other people to having my own space.”

“I now have a lot of space all to myself so it is a different experience and I am loving it.”

“I have designated different areas of the studio to different aspects.”

Rachel us currently working on a piece for the Derbyshire Wildlife Show and she is taking three of her copper pieces down to London where they will be used to decorate an entrance hall for an awards ceremony.

She said: “It is nice to get out and about.”

“I am always working in the studio and I usually use a courier to collect my pieces.”

“It is a good chance to meet people and I get to hear what people think about the work.”
