A Worksop slimmer has been named Woman of the year 2014.
Dawn Grudziak, 48, has lost an impressive 9st 57 1/2 lbs over 19 months through the Slimming World at St Joseph’s catholic social club on Wingfield Avenue, Worksop.
She first joined Slimming World in 2013, after becoming increasingly unhappy with her weight.
Dawn, who has dropped from a size 24,to a size 10 said: “I started putting on weight because of a stressful job and and unhappy marriage.
“ I kept going for the quick and easy option foods ,like takeaways.”
Over the years, Dawn has tried many different diets but they left her feeling miserable and hungry.
She believes Slimming World is different, and feels like she isn’t depriving herself of food.
The 48-year-old, now follows Slimming World’s Food Optimising plan, which encourages the women to eat healthy foods such as meat , fish, potatoes and rice.
She added: “I never dreamt I could achieve so much. Slimming World has changed my life.
“I have got so much more energy and I can do things now that I couldn’t before.”
As well as looking slimmer, Dawn says her health has improved and enjoyd being active, rather than thinking of exercise as a chore.
“I already feel like a winner, so being voted the St Joseph’s group Woman of the year is the icing on the cake”, she added.
Dawn, who was voted woman of the year by her group, will now go onto the regional finals of the competition, which will put her in the running for the national title.
She said she couldn’t have done this without the help of her friends at Slimming World, and they spured her on through tough times.
Organisor of Worksop’s Slimming World, Jules Dobson, said: “I’m so proud of Dawn. She is an inspiration to everyone in our group and I hope she inspires other women to change their lives in the same way.”
