Crime scene investigators are probing a house in Central Avenue, Worksop, after reports of a ‘suspicious incident’.

Police were called at 4.40am to the property but it is not yet clear why.

A spokesman for Notts Police said the incident was not being linked to an ongoing investigation in the Gateford area.

There, a woman was sexually assaulted near Eddison Park Avenue area around 9pm last night.

Neighbours on Central Avenue said they had not been told anything by the police about today’s incident.

“It’s scary when you don’t know what’s happened,” said one mum.

“I’ve got kids so I want to know if they are safe or if there’s something I should be worried about.”

Another young mum who lives nearby said the occupant, a woman roughly in her 70s, was inside while officers were investigating.

“They haven’t been round knocking on doors or anything. We don’t know what’s going on,” she said.
