Healthwatch Nottinghamshire is hosting a free, fun, informal and interactive event for young carers under 19 in Worksop.

The Time for Me Bitesize carers event will be held on 19th Mayfrom 3:45pm to 5:45pm at Worksop Leisure Centre, Valley Road.

Young people will get useful information to help them in their caring role, have a chance to win in a prize draw and have a free swim.

The free Young Carers Bitesize conference in Worksop is the first of a series of conferences across Notts to focus on the health and wellbeing of young carers.

The event will feature a short presentation on assessing young carers’ needs and transitioning from being a young carer to an adult carer.

Young people will also have a chance to speak about the challenges in their role as a young carer and what support they require.

Alison Duckers, community & partnerships worker for children and young people, said: “It is important that young carers do not feel isolated due to lack of support or information and lose out on the opportunities that others have in their age group.”

“The bite sized conference is a chance for young carers to enjoy being young people and have time for themselves.”

Young carers should book their place at the event by emailing youth@healthwatchnottinghamshire.co.uk, texting 07904241388 or calling 0115 963 5179.
