‘Beyoncé’ made a star appearance tearing up the dancefloor with her backing dancers at Retford Town Hall this weekend.
But a closer look reveals Retford mayor Alan Chambers busting his very best moves.
The councillor donned a lustrous long wig and daring black dress to perform a dance-off to the superstar’s popular song Single Ladies.
It was a surprise turn at an event held to celebrate the end of his year in office.
He performed alongside talented dancers from De Burnays School of Dance.
Youngsters from St Giles School and The MOB also performed on the night.
Proceeds from the event will go to Coun Chambers’ mayoral charities, including Bassetlaw Hospice.
This hilarious video of the dance has been shared rapidly across social media, and Coun Chambers said he wanted it to go ‘national’ in order to ‘get some promotion for our brilliant town’.
He said: “ I want it to go to as many people as possible, to promote the town. It’s my bit to say I love Retford.”
Coun Jo White tweeted a photo saying: “Mayor @chammies celebrating a year of goodness and fun. What a star!”
This Sunday 11th May Coun Chambers holds his civic service at St Swithuns Church in Retford from 11am.
