A1 Housing’s dedication to experience and apprenticeships has been recognised with an award.

It has been awarded the Fair Train Quality Gold Standard for Work Experience, a national accredited scheme that provides frameworks for employers and training providers who offer work experience of good quality and helps enhance the chances of gaining employment.

A1 Housing provides a number of work experience, training and apprenticeship opportunities, including Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) level three qualifications and NVQs.

Bernard Coleman, managing director of A1 Housing, said: “It is well established that well planned work experience – volunteering to do work with the aim of gaining skills to improve employability - significantly increases the chances that individuals will gain employment.”

“At A1 Housing we offer a number of work experience and apprenticeship programmes that help build and develop skills, helping young people to get ready for work.”

Coun Alan Chambers, cabinet member for housing at Bassetlaw Council, was delighted with the recognition achieved.

“Work experience shouldn’t be about making the tea, it is a valuable opportunity for young people to learn and prepare for work,” he said this week.
