Road traffic accident occured along the B6042 Creswell Road (w120925-1)

An inquest into the deaths of two Carlton sisters who died in a tragic car crash in Creswell will be resumed tomorrow (Wednesday 28th May).

Chantelle Grace Keywood, aged five, and her sister Yleina Skye Keywood, aged twenty-two months, were killed on the B6042 Crags Road near Creswell on 24th September 2012.

The sisters, of Canterbury Walk, Carlton, were back seat passengers in a car driven by their mother, Amy Keywood.

The inquest was opened at Chesterfield Coroner’s Court in October 2012.

The court heard that the car had ‘lost control’ and crashed into an oncoming vehicle.

A police officer said the car was travelling towards Creswell when it ‘lost control, crossed the carriageway and collided with a Citroën C2 travelling the other way’ and ended up in a hedge.

Both girls were taken to hospital but did not survive their injuries.

Assistant deputy coroner James Newman adjourned the inquest for further investigations to take place.

Conclusions are expected to be heard at tomorrow’s inquest at Chesterfield Coroner’s Court.
