Bassetlaw: Rev Simon becomes area dean

The Rev Simon Cash

The Rev Simon Cash has been made area dean in the Bassetlaw and Bawtry Deanery. He succeeds the Rev Jonathan Smithhurst. Simon is priest in charge at St Anne’s, Worksop and churches in Norton Cuckney and Holbeck. He said: “It is a privilege. I look forward to serving the churches and colleagues in the area.”

The Rev Simon Cash has been made area dean in the Bassetlaw and Bawtry Deanery.

He took up the post on 3rd January, succeeding the Rev Jonathan Smithhurst.

Simon is priest in charge of St Anne’s church in Worksop, St Mary’s at Norton Cuckney and St Winifred’s at Holbeck. He is based in Worksop.

Simon, 51, trained at St John’s Theological College, Nottingham.

He was deaconed in 2001 and priested in 2002. He was curate from 2001 to 2004 at Aston cum Aughton with Swallownest and Ulley in Sheffield Diocese.

Since then he has been priest in charge at Worksop, and Norton Cuckney from 2005.

He is married to Liz and they have three grown-up children.

Simon said: “It is a privilege to be invited by the Bishop of Southwell and Nottingham to take on the role of area dean and I am looking forward to serving the churches and colleagues in the Bassetlaw and Bawtry area.”
