DELVE into the drained depths of a historic Worksop canal lock later this month and walk along the canal bottom.

Stret Lock, on the Chesterfield Canal will be drained and open to the public on Sunday 25th November.

It is part of a maintenance project by the Canal & River Trust which will see the lock widened.

This unique invite will give visitors the chance to see the hidden history beneath the 250-year-old canal, and ask questions of the experts involved in the lock widening scheme.

This winter the Canal & River Trust will spend £50 million conserving and maintaining 2,000 miles of waterways in England and Wales, including the replacement of 104 lock gates.
