Three from Retford hurt in M18 crash
THREE people from Retford were among those injured after a serious crash on a Doncaster motorway on Sunday evening.
The M18 was closed northbound after the incident at about 8pm, in which two cars left the motorway, just south of Junction 3.
A 25-year-old Retford man who was driving a black BMW 320, claimed his car was 'shunted from behind' after he joined from the A1.
He and his two passengers - a 32-year-old woman and an 11-year-old boy - were all taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary for checks, but were released.
Emergency services arrived to find a black Vauxhall Vectra on its roof after it flipped and collided with a road sign next to the carriageway.
The driver, a 34-year-old man from the Scunthorpe area, suffered a fractured wrist and head injuries. He was retained in hospital, where his condition is described as comfortable.
Paramedics, police and fire crews were called out, and the carriageway was closed for about three hours.
Police have appealed for any information about the way either car was being driven before the accident to call the South Yorkshire Police witness helpline on 0114 220 2970.
