Teen-Fest is a hit

RETFORD's Teen-Fest returned to the town with a bang on Sunday – attracting more than 1,500 youngsters for a fun-filled day out.

Building on last year's success, Teen-Fest 2007 provided a whole host of free activities for teenagers to get their teeth into.

Visitors were able to try their hand at creating their own music in the DJ and beatbox tent, have a go at creative arts or simply listen to live music.

And sporty youngsters were well served, with kayaking activities arranged on the River Idle, a dizzy-making climbing wall and skateboard and BMX competitions.

Eddie Burgess, Notts County Council's senior youth worker for Bassetlaw said this year's Teen-Fest was a huge success.

"The climbing wall, circus skills and body painting were really popular with people of all ages and over 200 young people entered the skateboard competition."

"Many thanks are due to all the people that helped to organise this event and to all those in the local community who came along and helped make the day so special."
