Students from Wales High School were rewarded for their hard work and success over the last school year recently.

The annual presentation of certificates and awards evening celebrated the summer’s great examination results.

There were also sponsored awards with prizes handed out to individuals for their outstanding achievements and determination.

Guests got a special treat when the cast of the end of year production of Joseph performed Those Canaan Days, while ex-pupil and former World Superbike Champion James Toseland performed an original song on piano and vocals.

World Cup referee Howard Webb rounded of the evening by presenting a cheque for £14,427 to Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.

A school spokesman said: “Over 500 members of our staff, pupils, parents and guests were present. It was a huge success and enjoyable evening.”
