Retford man seriously injured in Sheffield crash

A RETFORD man is seriously injured in hospital after his car overturned on Sheffield Parkway in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday).

The 20-year-old was driving out of the city when his black Vauxhall Astra lost control and crashed as it approached a left-hand bend just before the M1 motorway at junction 33.

Police said the car entered a gravel trap, overturned and landed alongside trees in the centre of the motorway roundabout.

The driver and his passenger - a 22-year-old Gainsborough man - were both taken to Rotherham General Hospital with serious internal injuries.

Witnesses to the incident, which happened around 12.55am, should call South Yorkshire Police on 0114 2202970.
