Residents in South Yorkshire are being urged to prepare their water pipes and prevent bursts during the cold winter months.

Yorkshire Water is advising its customers to keep their homes heated during cold snaps.

Pipework, tanks and cisterns in unheated areas such as garages should be wrapped up with waterproof foam lagging.

Customers are also urged to check where their stop taps are so they can be quickly found and turned off if there is a burst.
