Police search for bogus council official

POLICE have released an e-fit of a suspected distraction burglar posing as a council official in Retford.

The man called at a home on Springfield Road on Friday 25th September, claiming to be from 'the council'.

After the occupant allowed him to go inside, a second man walked into the lounge before the resident became suspicious and asked them to leave.

Both men left in the direction of Lidget Lane empty-handed, though police believe they had planned to commit a distraction burglary.

Anyone who recognises the man in this e-fit, or who has any information is asked to contact Det Con Rachael Butler, at Retford CID on 0300 300 9999, ext 7468, or to contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
