Patient died from swine flu, hospital confirms
A PATIENT suffering from swine flu has died at Bassetlaw Hospital, the Guardian can reveal.
A Bassetlaw and Doncaster Hospital Trust spokesman said: ”We can confirm that a patient died of a swine flu-related cause at Bassetlaw Hospital earlier this month.”
Frontline staff working in high-risk areas of Bassetlaw Hospital are now being vaccinated against swine flu in a bid to stop the disease spreading.
The NHS has been told to brace itself for action after a steep rise in swine flu infections.
The number of new cases reported in England has topped 53,000 and the number of deaths has risen above 128.
Anyone who has flu-like symptoms or is concerned they may have swine flu should see their GP.
You can also view the National Pandemic Flu Service website www.pandemicflu.direct.gov.uk which lists symptoms of flu.
Alternatively, you can call the Swine Flu Information Line on 0800 1 513 513.
Swine flu vaccinations are available to people with the greatest risk of becoming seriously ill from the virus, and anyone concerned should contact their GP.
