A DRIVER has been fined for failing to stop at the level crossing in Worksop.

Roy Bland, 43, of Stanley Street, admitted by letter to failing to comply with a red traffic light signal at the crossing on 27th September, last year.

Worksop Magistrates’ Court heard that police officers saw a car overtake a stationary vehicle, cross a solid white line and the level crossing when the light was flashing red.

In his letter to the court, Bland apologised for his ‘moment of madness.’ He said he had always had a clean licence and assured the court it would not happen again.

He was given three penalty points, fined £170 and ordered to pay £100 in costs and surcharges.
