Man attempts suicide on Barlborough M1 junction

TRAFFIC came to a standstill after a man tried to commit suicide on the M1 near Barlborough yesterday (Saturday).

The man, believed to be in his 50s, jumped from the northbound bridge of Junction 30 around 1.35pm.

Vehicles managed to avoid hitting the man who sustained serious leg injuries.

The road was closed in both directions to allow the Air Ambulance to take him to Northern General Hospital in Sheffield, where he remains in a serious condition.
